Dr. Wei-Ying Ma is named an IEEE Fellow and ACM Distinguished Scientist. He was previously an editor board member of ACM/Springer Journal on Multimedia Systems, and the vice editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Information System (TOIS). He is also a member of the organizing and procedure committee of multiple international conferences, including ACM SIGIR, ACM Multimedia, ACM CIKM, WWW (WebConf), ICME, CVPR, SPIE Multimedia Storage and Archiving Systems, and SPIE Multimedia Communication and Networking. He has published over 350papers on international conferences and academic journals, and holds 160-plus technological patents. In 2018, he was ranked 86 on the list of TOP 100 industrial scientists.

Dr. Wei-Ying Ma was with Hewlett-Packard Labs in Palo Alto, California from 1997 to 2001, where he worked in the fields of multimedia content analysis and adaptation. He joined Microsoft Research Asia in 2001 and later was appointed the Assistant Managing Director. In 2017, he became the Vice President at ByteDance where he led its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory. In 2020, he joined the Institute for AI Industry Research, Tsinghua University as the Chief Scientist.

Dr. Wei-Ying Ma graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University in 1990 with a bachelor degree, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 1994 with a master degree and in 1997 with a doctoral degree, respectively.

Mr. Shi Chen is the venture partner of FreeS Fund. Shi is well experienced in business administration and decision-making with deep understanding of China’s TMT industries. He worked as executive of Digital Media & Entertainment Group and mobile Internet division at Alibaba for 5 years, participating in multiple products management such as UCweb, Youku Tudou and Autonavi. Before the Alibaba, Shi was also an excellent aspiring serial entrepreneur. He joined mobile browser firm UCWeb (fully acquired by Alibaba in 2014) and financial service company Lakala (China SZSE listed) since their founding, and was appointed to the positions of vice president and CTO separately.
